2014 Dark Angel Syrah, Stoplman Vineyard, Ballard Canyon

Available for the first time to the public, the 2014 Dark Angel Syrah is at the peak of its form after a decade of bottle aging. Inky purple with big, perfumed black and blue fruit aromas. Fleshy core with palate-staining cassis. Blueberry. blackberry and boysenberry flavors mingle with ground pepper and touches of clove. Finishes smooth and sweet, with velvety tannins and a long finish.

Vinification: Dry-farmed; 50% whole cluster fermentation in open-top concrete fermenters with native yeast

Aging: 18 months in 500ml puncheons; 15% new French Oak
